Monday, October 16. 2006More planned stuff for 1.3And back to some blogging (jeah, blogging is funny, that's the first blog i've ever written *g*). Since Michael Mittermeier was on TV this evening, 9 hours of work and two flys flying around his room, flo didn't get to work on SysCP today, that's very sad :(. I for myself hope getting his ass to motion if I post often about the 1.2.15, 'cause technically it's mostly done :P (okay, as he told me now, he did something during the commercials and he catched one fly now, so there is hope :D ) I for myself have some thoughts about 1.3 not mentioned yet to the public, the team mostly knows them, so I want to share them with you (please remember, these are ideas, possible they will not be included with SysCP directly!):
That's it for now, I for myself hope all the stuff can be realised. Ah, and I can't do any coding for SysCP this week, I have another big project which I must finish first, sorry for that, but I promise I'll work heavy on 1.3 soon! So long, Trackbacks

I love this blog.
Please support PHP5 as soon as possible. I just replaced PHP4 with PHP5 but it broke SysCP, Wordpress and other things. So please let me choose for every specific domain what I want to use! Also mod_python would be great at least for 1.4. Thanks :) Good night btw
Thx for your comments, it makes fun to blog and see that at least one person is actually reading it ;)
I for myself use SysCP in a modded version where a customer can choose the PHP-version per directory. Sadly the patch is for SysCP 1.2.13 only and doesn't apply to 1.2.14 yet. Ah, and PHP5 will be required by SysCP 1.4 (as well as apache2 (or lighttpd, if I get the module working ;) )) mod_python, perhaps as a module, we'll see, perhaps you can open a ticket with a feature request? So long, Florian
Would be great if at least the PHP-Patch would be in the next release :)
I know that you can only use PHP5 in backdoors, but I think a few persons have it installed with dirty hacks :) I'll open a ticket now. Greetings from Ireland, Timm
If you only want to use PHP5, that's possible yet, SysCP works flawless with it. Only choosing is not included and sorry, it's unlikely that it will be introduced in 1.2.15, as we want to finish the 1.2.x - series as soon as possible, we are only 3 active developers currently (yes, we welcome every new person who can help (coding, writting documentation etc) :D ), so we can't enforce working on 2 complete different codebases.
So long, Florian
No, as you said on your page the SysCP-.deb Packet needs PHP4.
When I installed PHP5 I couldn't open the Webinterface. I also installed php5-mysql. Uhh damn, do I have to activate the mysql-stuff? Hmm then I would try it again. Regards, Timm
Hi,
Yes, the .deb indeed requires PHP4, but SysCP itself runs without any problems with PHP5. So long, Florian
i have running syscp with php 5.1.6 without any problems.
I installed syscp from "source"
Hmm I installed libapache-mod-php5.0 and php5.0-mysql and phpinfo() said that everything is ok, but sysCp wont't work :(
Do I have to change some settings or is a packet missing? (I only installed but did not extra configure php-mysql)
did you run the cronscript by hand? To show whether there are some errors?
This sounds all quite nice! I hope, that syscp 1.4 get's finished in the near future. Because in 1.2 I miss a few features which you already anounced for 1.4.
I couldn't help developing because I'm a dev of openvcp (http://www.openvcp.org), but maybe we could work together in the future. I know chtekk is already working on such a solution for syscp, but that doesn't mean we could not work together.
Hi,
Yes,we hope that too, but it's much work to finish before we can release it - and there is some work which takes much time (lngsplitting i.e.). But we work as much as we can. So long, Florian
i know that very good how that works in development ;)
I'm sure that syscp 1.4 will be finished when it's time for. ;)
So, just got PHP5 to work properly. But I would be great if I could switch between 4 and 5 because Squirrelmail doesn't like it :(
What is your "perfect setup" for running php4/5 side by side?
Mine is currently suPHP with suexec and a patched SysCP 1.2.13 (http://overlays.gentoo.org/dev/chtekk/browser/syscp, 1.2.13 because the patches are not 1.2.14 - compatible)
Allows changing the PHP-version by directory. |
